The 44th Copa del Rey MAPFRE has provided a remarkable showcase for Botin Partners designs, with four yachts conceived by the studio taking the top four positions in the ABANCA ORC 0 class.

At the end of a demanding week of racing in the Bay of Palma, VUDU emerged as champion, followed by HISPANIA, KILLARA II and CABALLO LOCO — delivering an exceptional 1–2–3–4 finish for Botin Partners.

1st — BP273 VUDU

At the head of the fleet, VUDU once again demonstrated the extraordinary longevity and competitiveness of its design. Originally conceived for the TP52 class, the 2015 design continues to deliver exceptional performance under ORC, securing one of the most prestigious victories on the Mediterranean racing calendar.

HISPANIA followed in second. Another proven Botin Partners design, HISPANIA has established an impressive record in both TP52 and ORC racing, demonstrating that a well-executed performance yacht can remain highly competitive long after its original launch.

Completing the podium in third was KILLARA II, a Botin Partners-designed Wallyrocket 51, produced by Wally. The yacht represents a different expression of the Botin Partners design philosophy: a lightweight, high-performance platform created to combine speed, efficiency and exceptional sailing characteristics.

CABALLO LOCO completed the top four, giving Botin Partners all four leading positions in a class where the margins between the world’s best racing yachts are measured in seconds.

A clean sweep of the top four places at the Copa del Rey MAPFRE is more than a successful week of racing. It is a reflection of the consistency of the design principles applied across Botin Partners’ work: performance-driven naval architecture, careful optimisation and an uncompromising focus on speed and efficiency. The diversity of the four yachts makes the result even more significant. From established TP52 designs to the Wallyrocket 51, each project has its own brief, constraints and design objectives. Yet all four have demonstrated the same fundamental quality — the ability to perform at the highest level when it matters.

The Copa del Rey MAPFRE remains one of the defining events of the Mediterranean racing season, bringing together leading sailors, designers and teams in one of the world’s most competitive racing environments.

Congratulations to the teams of VUDU, HISPANIA, KILLARA II and CABALLO LOCO on an outstanding championship.
